Bondurant Community Foundation established tornado victim fund

Donations can be dropped at Legacy Bank, City Hall, or made on line

[Bondurant, Iowa, July 25, 2018] Following the recent tornado that touched down in Bondurant and affected 100 properties in the community, the Bondurant Community Foundation established a fund to help facilitate collection and distribution of any monetary donations that anyone would like to provide. Donations can be made at Legacy Bank, City Hall or on line at https://www.facebook.com/pg/bdiartsandrec/shop/?rid=1050005025147935&rt=8&location=homepage_stream.

It is the Foundation’s intention to assure all monies designated to this fund are used to help victims of last Thursday’s tornadoes. If we find there are more donations than need, the Foundation intends to roll those funds over to some kind of Bondurant Community Betterment Fund to help our citizens in the future.

It is not yet known if the disaster is going to receive a Presidential declaration, which triggers access to both individual assistance for private residents to have the opportunity to apply for FEMA funds and public assistance for the City to recoup costs of cleanup. Mayor Sullivan is meeting with President Trump on Thursday morning to discuss recent disasters with him and request FEMA assistance.

“I am so proud of the many amazing Bondurant residents who have come out to support their neighbors. While the storm has passed, rebuilding for many residents will take quite some time,” said Mayor Sullivan. “I am excited to have the opportunity to highlight the many stories of strength and generosity in our community as I work towards securing some additional assistance for the residents and the City.”

If you are a resident affected by the severe summer weather and may need help accessing resources to support your rebuilding and recovery efforts, please contact City Hall at 515.967.2418.
